Replacing Your Front Door Lock

The current unit (front door) entry lock is made by Schlage, but on occasion they are beginning to fail.  It is important when thinking about repair or replacement that you retain the front door appearance as close to the original as possible.   In most cases a locksmith can replace the internal parts with third party brands, thus saving the time and expense of ordering through Schlage.  But if you find you need to order a complete new latch mechanism the specifications are below.  Additionally, the HOA board  board approved a substitute, which was installed on G-203 in March, 2008 door).  Attached is the pricing and model information. Owners who need to replace their front door latch may do so with this (attached) model without further Board approval or go to a Schlage dealer and order there.

If you would like to order a complete new door latch assembly the Schlage series number is believed to be A200, finish is 626 Satin Chrome, and the style is called "Jupiter".  It is recommended you have a qualified Schlage locksmith assist you in ordering because we are not 100% sure the above specification is correct.  A website reference for Schlage is:

and a Spec Sheet is (here).  Bulger Safe & Lock (11502 Lake City Way NE - Seattle) indicated the complete assembly would run about $400 (in 2010).
